How to find a substitute thermostat for freezer model FCM5DMCWH
DarkHorse96 replied to qkcam's topic in DIY Appliance Repair Help
It took a good bit of time to identify that thread, but I eventually found it to be an "electrical panel" thread; not a regular M10 "standard, fine, or extra fine" thread. From what I understand, many appliances need relatively thin nuts to fit into tight spaces and need VERY fine threads to hold securely without requiring a much thicker nut to have room for enough threads for the required holding power. That's why in my initial testing even standard M10 "extra fine" nuts were too coarse for that thermostat. Those threads are specified by a adding a specific thread pitch in mm. Besides their use in electrical panels, appliances, lamps, etc., such thread pitches are also commonly used in panels on cars and trucks. That particular thermostat's threaded area is an M10 x 0.75mm thread. (M10 "extra fine" thread is only M10 x 1.0mm). I bought a small bag of M10 x 0.75, steel, metric hex nuts that are thin (only 2.6mm high) on Amazon. They screwed right on to the thermostat's threads with no issues. A 60-count bag was only $7.89. (There are other offerings for them, but I bought the first one I saw that I could next-day Prime in). Just bring up Amazon and type the ASIN (Amazon Stock ID Number) "B0CN2JNVXF" into the search box and click the Search symbol. (Or, if you'd rather search by spec than ASIN, the listing for the bag I bought had the listing title: "PATIKIL M10x0.75 Steel Hex Nuts, 60 Pack Metric Thread Zinc Plated Finished Hardware Nuts Screw Bolt Fasteners for Lamps Machinery Repair 2.6mm Height"). I've been working higher priority projects and haven't yet had time to go back to the chest freezer repair, but this should allow me to mechanically attach a mount to the 10085. - Today

GE dishwasher not draining completely
FD7 replied to joshua_trees's topic in DIY Appliance Repair Help
Pull off the spray arm, take out screw and remove filter ring. Pull sump cover and clean it out. Check ball inside, clean it as well. If not clear to you, look up exploded view or service manual. This dishwasher does not have a drain pump. The main pump does the draining when the drain valve solenoid is activated.- 1 reply

GE Potscrubber 940 - pump & motor replaced, now continuing to pump after water emptied out, and continuously through heat cycle?
appleimac replied to appleimac's topic in DIY Appliance Repair Help
FIXED IT! Turns out Repair Clinic had 2 different timer motors listed as being compatible with this model originally, Originally I was able to find one of these two to replace the timer motor with. Finally was able to track down the other model number listed originally on RC and found a NOS one - this looked identical to the other timer motor, except for the model number stamped on it. This one works, and the dishwasher now drains out at the end of the cycle, as it did before, but now the motor and arms do not continue running while the DW goes into the drying mode! -

Bosch Siemens washer analog pressure switch / sensor adjustment
JohnSeeley replied to JohnSeeley's topic in DIY Appliance Repair Help
Just to add some closure to this thread. The extended hose didn't work too good. I bought the updated sensor from Bosch. I separated the housing, drilled a hole in the housing so i can turn the screw with the housing back together. The new sensor alone (without touching the screw) allowed for a higher water level on all cycles. I'll still be experimenting with the screw to achieve a little more water so I can see it in the door seal gusset. Not looking for much water because I know it puts wear on parts- shocks, springs, motor, spider bracket, etc. -

Hi there! Anyone know what could be causing a dishwasher not to drain completely? I mean the pump is obviously working because it does drain about 85% of the water, but every time it finishes there is a small puddle of water. The filter is 100% clean and inside the dishwasher itself, all drain hoses are clean and clear, garbage disposal is also clean and clear. Took drain pump out and nothing was caught up inside of it or anything. Bad board? Bad drain pump? GE dishwasher model number: GSD3300K00BB Serial number: DL873297B

LG Refrigerator LRMWS2906 - Water dispenser light stopped working
sbi123 posted a topic in DIY Appliance Repair Help
Greetings, As the subject says: Light should come on when the water dispenser is used. Same light can be turned ON permanently with a LIGHT button on the panel. The light does not come on, either when pressing the water dispenser or the LIGHT button. The panel works fine, all lights come on, it is just the dispenser light. The dispenser in this fridge is super slim. Any idea how to approach this? Does anyone happen to have the service manual and is able to share? Thanks. -
