All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:
Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working. Set a reminder for yourself for this workshop so you don’t miss it.  And check out past workshops here: https://appliantology.org/announcement/33-webinar-recordings-index-page/

  2. Problem just started today. Noticed a grinding noise coming from the drum while spinning by hand or during spin cycle. Sounds like bad bearings / lack of lubrication to me but ultimately unsure the root cause and whether it’s cost effective to repair. IMG_1572.mov
  3. On the same day, the freezer light died and two of the interior lights (top of interior) are dimmer than usual with a slight blue-ish color. The rocker switch in the freezer is moving. I understand these are wired in series so I probably don’t need to replace all of them. Any suggestions where to buy? I found one place that has all the replacement lights, 12 in total with three hardwired together. This doesn’t seem right.
  4. Manufacturer: Cove Type of Appliance: Dishwasher Model Number: DW2450 Have you validated the model number at an online parts site like Repair Clinic? (yes or no): Yes Have you watched the video on how to search for manuals and have you searched the Downloads section prior to posting this request? (yes or no): Yes The model number shows up on Google but not on repair clinic. I’m looking for a service manual with the diagnostic menu, codes and a schematic.
  5. I'm getting error codes but, unless I'm blind, I'm not seeing the key to read the binary on the tech sheet. Below is what the tech sheet says regarding reading the error codes "Look for LED group 5 and group 6, it shows the fault and error codes mentioned in binary format. Fore detail on how to read binary format, see Tech Manual. Press Key 3 to show next fault and error code."
  6. It is a zip file with about 27 documents in there.
  7. Not able to open this when downloaded. Trying to open with apps that arent related to docs apps
  8. Manufacturer: Bosch Type of Appliance: Dishwasher Model Number: SHU4322UC/12 Have you validated the model number at an online parts site like Repair Clinic? 9. I have not been able to find anything on this one. Anyone else?
  10. I don’t have anything either.
  11. I've got nothing on this one, so we might be out of luck unless either @Captain Dunsel or @Vance R has something

  17. Hey there. Have a GE Spacemaker Washer that won't engage to spin or agitate. Blocked motor error code comes up. There is no blocked motor. GUD27ESSJIWW Following has occurred and looking for next steps guidance. GE Tech came out months ago to diagnose. Said most likely bad motor. Only put it into diagnostic mode to see error code. Never did any electric tests on board or parts. Ordered whole new tub assembly with new transmission, motor, speed sensor, tub. Tub assembly finally came which was back ordered. Tech installed tub assembly. DID NOT solve problem. What is occurring is if tub fills after it fills it won't agitate. You can put it into spin after reseting and it will drain the water but then won't spin. If you go into diagnostic mode and engage the spin test, it will start the drain pump and if you watch the fork assembly with the gears/actuator you see them move into place to start locking tub to motor/pulley. After the black/white gears lock into place, a few seconds later blocked motor error code comes up. Drain pump stops also since error occurs. Tech has now ordered new computer control board after calling tech support (he never checked board the first time on diagnostic trip) and tub assembly motor might not have been issue at all (which is annoying but luckily didn't have to pay since it didn't solve problem). He swears he checked the board the first time and I said he absolutely did not. I watched him the whole time. I don't have the confidence in this repair technician from GE anymore since they didn't do their due diligence the first time and check the board. Any suggestions on what else this could be to cause this? I'm now 3 months without a washer. I'm curious if I should try the unplug and do the lift 6x thing I just saw today on a site. Thanks for any guidance or help.

    Whirlpool Refrigerator Leaking Water Help!!

Probably a defrost issue or just clogged drain line. Remove back panel and check for continuity on defrost heater. If it has continuity, but evaporator is solid ice, replace defrost thermostat. (sometimes it comes built in as part of a harness to the evaporator fan) and defrost the drain line using a steamer. You should hear the water gurgling down after a minute. If it doesn’t drain, check the drain tube for physical restrictions. GL🙂

LG DLEX9500K Dryer constantly throwing d80

Just a guess, check the blower wheel area and lint duct/outlet for restrictions too, and reset the board by unplugging. Check the wiring and harnesses too. If the thermistor has been replaced that’s all I can think of! GL🙂
  20. Water pressure was really high! Filter only 4mos old. Inlet valve showed resistance but no continuity. Power to inlet valve confused me. It showed 2v with door open, 3v with door closed, and dropped to 0v when I press the water dispense paddle (while pressing door switch). But I could hear a click from the valve area like it was getting power! 🤔 Recommended the valve first. wondering if anybody else has other ideas or experience with this model?

Update! After removing the metal piece from the outer tub and replacing the drain pump it starts working 🥳
