Whirlpool washer/dryer combo FWDG97168WFR - service manual and troubleshooting help needed

Hi there,

My very first post here, as I just found this site. I have an issue with the dryer - clothes are not dry at all even after multiple cycles. Same results with small load or full load. This issue started (just to provide some context) with wet clothes after full cycle or F15 error and clothes inside the drum being very hot, which ended with failed heating element in the air heater chamber together with failed bearings in the hot air blower motor (I assume motor failed first). Replaced both, no more F15 error. Clothes are still not dry, sometimes after two - three cycles it is OK more or less. Drying cycle takes very long - 4 / 5 hours, and most of the time with wet clothes.

Filter between the drum and condenser, condenser itself and everything I could reach cleaned - no difference.

Temperature sensor for hot air checked, seems to be OK (20k@25C if I remember well, measured with hot water as well)

Water valve for drum cooling (during drying cycle) works, releasing small amount of water.

Currently waiting for plastic pipe (connecting detergent box and air heater), as the rubber part which connects to hot air side is damaged, but I am not sure if it can cause all the issues. Anyway, replacement is ordered.

Please, if possible, provide some guidance, and service manual would be great to have as well. I have capability and knowledge to work on electrical stuff, but this issue makes me (and my wife) crazy.

Hi all,

just want to post an update here, maybe someone will find it useful.

After drying cycle with once again wet closes I tried to look for something. Took my flashlight, and looked around the drum.

In the worst possible place, on the left side, between the metal drum and plastic, hm, external drum(5) where rubber part (15) is connected, I found a lot of accumulated / compressed lint. In order to remove that, I had to move the rubber (7), and with the pair of tweezers remove that stuff, but it was not enough, so I had to remove the detergent box, part (15), and finish the cleaning.

Two cycles finished with dry clothes, and I hope it will remain like that. I think design without lint trap is quite bad, but I understand it is not high-end stuff, so... At least next time I will have where to look.

Anyway, service manual still would be appreciated, for future repairs.

You have to go to manual libs and see if they have a manual. Make sure you're getting the correct manual for your model number as that site is hit or miss.

Sorry, I was not aware (maybe missed it when reading here) that I won't be able to get the service manual in this forum.

I hate the fact (in general) that all these service manuals are locked, but it is what it is.
