I always call 30 minutes before and still make the trip if it's not too far but what grinds my gears is when they totally forget you were coming and call two hours later and laugh and giggle and say, "Oh I forgot about you, hee hee."  I always say well I didn't forget about you! Thanks for wasting my time.
