Capacitor on reversing dryer and roller machine

On the reversing dryers that I have seen, as well as many laundry roller machines it is common that the motor is equipped with a capacitor, and no specific start winding.

the motor itself is a 3 phase designed induction motor (not single phase shaded pole), where the capacitor is connected between two windings, Neutral is fed to the third, and direction is determined by which leg of the capacitor Live is fed.

I'd like to put my two cents (Canadian) in = This Frigidaire Gallery dryer was available on the Canadian market for a couple of years, and was indeed a reversing drying (hence the double idler pulley). It was constructed exactly like the old style Westinghouse dryers. They were trying to replicate some of the reversing European dryers (less tangled clothes and more efficient drying when it reverses) The motor was your standard Frig/Westinghouse with the exception it had no motor start switch. The start/stop/reversing was accomplished by a board in the console. It had several relays - one SPST relay to start & stop the motor - one SPST relay to remove the start winding from the circuit and two SPDT relays to facilitate the reversing functions, acting exactly like typical reversing switches The motor started, ran for ? min. paused about 3 sec. , started again for approx. ?min. and repeated. Standard timer, selector switch, push to start (for initial start) etc. If I was at work I could post a schematic - suspect if you went into the Frigidaire site you may find that for those interested. There is a diagram of the board and a logic chart for various cycles.This was just a standard dryer with electronic motor operation - no electronics for dry. Hope this helps - oh and there was no capacitor on the motor.
