I have an older Amana GUC gas/forced-air furnace that has an AP5522K relay.  Would anybody know the difference of a AP5222K relay that seems to be much more available?

It doesnt look like what you have but it is the same electriclly.

 What you are looking for is a Double pole Double throw 24volt ac coil relay. ( DPDT 24VAC relay)

Just to be clear... you want a relay with a 24 volt AC coil.   So no, the AP5222K will not work as it has a 24 volt DC volt coil. That is the difference .
