This LG refrigerator has french doors with a bottom freezer. The freezer will not freeze ice cream properly but will freeze everything else. The upper section of the refrigerator is fine. The temperature controls on the left door of the refrigerator are set at 34 and -6 degrees F. This LG refrigerator is 11 months old and has only been in use for 4 months as the house it's in is seasonal. There is no debris on any of the refrigerator items. A technician came out for warranty service and was told by LG to replace the temperature sensor in the freezer section as the freezer was at 16 degrees not the -6 as the control panel was demanding. It was replaced, but did not correct the problem. The technician came out again and was told by LG to replace the compressor. It's on order. My question is, why would the compressor have to be replaced? If the temperature sensor that was replaced is good and is telling the main ccontrol board that it's not cold enough in the freezer, wouldn't the compressor run continuously until the compressor overheated or if it's monitored, generate an error code stating the compressor is running too long? Also, if there are 2 adjustments on the freezer door for fresh food and freezer control, are there 2 temperature sensors? Could the board behind the temperature adjustment controls be inputting the wrong signals to the main control board? Not knowing the specifics of how this refrigerator works but logically thinking it out, I would think that the main control board is not converting the input from the temperature sensor correctly which is why the compressor shuts off or runs as I would expect it to on a properly running refrigerator. As mentioned, there are no error codes displayed. There are no noises. There is no build up of excessive frost or ice anywhere on the cooling components or the food sections or door seals. I am doubting this compressor replacement and trying to suggest the Main board replacement. The main board replacement would be a cheaper part cost and a lot less time involved. LG technical support will not talk to me as I am not an authorized technician.

Inefficient compressor is very likely on this one.  Seems like it has become a very common repair on these french door models lately for me.
