Hi All, I need a color coded diagram for the timer on a Maytag A208 washer. My brother changed the timer in my Mothers(stay with me) washer and it doesn't work at all. He must have misconnected a wire and I need a schematic/diagram to help him. Maytag was no help.

Thanks in advance!

If you remove the front of your washer there maybe a wiring diagram glued to the front of the tub, (I think some of the older models where there).   If not, (unless missing), it should have been folded up in the console area.

In the mean time till you can find the manual, all the wires will be marked with numbers and or letters in black about an inch from the connector of each wire.   If they can still be read carefully check each wire and make sure it is on the correspondingly marked terminal on the timer.

Holy cow you may have just given me the key to success! Thank you!

There was no diagram in the console, all of the wires going to the timer seemed to be in pristine condition when I initially looked at my brothers work so I should be able to read the numbers. I should have time to get over there Thursday and work on it, I will update this post with my results.

1st and foremost Thanks again for the timer help!

Now I have a new problem with the machine. The washer and timer work fine on Hot/warm setting, but when they use the hot/cold or warm/cold cycle the washer fills fine then washes/agitates and gets and gets to the rinse/spin cycle and just stops. If I manually advance the timer it completes the cycle normally. Is there a cold water valve solenoid or something I should be investigating? At this point I'm only out around $45 for the timer and I'd like to keep this machine going, My mother is 90 years old and despises change in addition to the fact its a strong machine.
Thanks!

If the cold side of the water valve is out, these older machines are paralyzed, you are on the right track!

If you only use Cold Wash/Cold Rinse swap the hoses on the valve to be backwards and run the Hot/Warm setting.

Or check the water valve coils with your meter and will most likely find that the cold solenoid is open, pretty simple job to change the water inlet valve and not that expensive, (machine is definitely worth fixing correctly!).

Thanks for the help, I found a inlet valve for $22 should go pretty easy.
