PFE29PSDASS GE frig frying inlet valves

Frig is maybe four years old.  Water dispenser stopped working and discovered the inlet valve was leaking bad, put a bunch of water into the basement.  Replaced valve and all was good for about 5 days.  Water dispenser stopped working again.  No leak, it just wouldn't dispense.  Got another valve, worked for about 5 days or so and then same thing again, no water out of the door.

I can hear a buzz from the top left of the door when water dispenser is pushed.  120 volts on the connector going to the valve when dispenser is pushed.  Ohms on both "bad" valves is 120 plus.  Water pressure seems fine, well over 20 psi.  I did install a small inline valve on the water feed line to make it easy to turn the water on and off.  Doesn't seem to me it hurts pressure or flow.  I'm not sure if the ice maker is working or not, I'll empty it now.  Water lines in both directions seem clear, not frozen or clogged.

What am I missing here?  Thanks

Chris

Check to be sure the sound from the door isn't a bad connection arcing and roasting the connector when the valve is energized...

Are you absolutely sure?? If you hear a buzz when the water dispenser is pushed it's probably the water valve energizing. If it's energizing, and it's a new valve, and you have water pressure.......I'd say you have some sort of blockage, most likely a frozen water line.

Easy way to test it.......disconnect the icewater line(5/16", larger line) off the water valve and put the valve in a bucket. Then push the water dispenser and see if water comes out the valve. If it does, then your problem is somewhere between there and where it comes out the dispenser.......most likely a frozen water line. Give it a shot and let us know what happens.

Also, make sure your water filter isn't clogged and it's properly connected.

Yup tired all that.  No water comes out of the valve when outflow side is disconnected.  Put a new water filter in and same result.  Seems odd these valves would fail so quickly.

Is the valve actually being energized? Is it getting voltage?

Are the condensor coils clean? Is it getting hot in the compressor compartment? I have seen valves and tubing fail because of excessive heat caused by dirty coils and/or Compressor running all the time to maintain temps.

I will have to pay attention to how much it is running and Ill vacuum out the bottom.  Valve is definitely getting 120 volts when dispenser is pressed.

You should be able to tell just by touching the valve it will be hot. If it is heat related, it would not fry in 5 days unless it was getting pretty hot.

If one of the spade connectors at the valve is loose it will generate heat and can cause failure.
