Was looking at heat pump electric dryers as the prices come down, how are these doing as far as reliability?  How expensive are they to repair?  I am particularly interested in the Whirlpool hybrid models - and would prefer if I could find an American-made dyer to boot -

I haven't seen one in the field yet (just in training seminars)

Probably too early to render a verdict on durability---for any brand.

As John63 stated above, I haven't seen any in the field yet either.

Just curious: what aspect of the product (ventless for installation, energy savings, etc) is attracting you to this technology?

mainly energy savings, particularly if rebates become available - can't add gas line easily to my condo, adding a clothes drying cabinet, thought this would be a nice addition.  Seems much more complicated though, with a compressor to go out - wondering about reliability and repair costs - currently I use a compact GE electric dryer, with a indoor vent "the Better Vent" which does not require venting into water -
