Hello, the small plastic tab on the spring loaded detergent door recently broke and no longer engages with the latch.  Hence, the door is always in the open position.  A couple questions:

1. Do I have to replace the entire assembly, or is a door/cover replacement available?    I believe this the assembly: https://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Whirlpool-Dishwasher-Detergent-Dispenser/WPW10605015/3023238?modelNumber=GU2300XTVT1&ss=a9b5d704515&mr=1

2. I am trying to fix the tab by bonding my own tab in place.  Is there a diagnostic mode that will allow me to actuate the latch so I can confirm if my fix works without having to wait for an entire wash cycle to complete so I can see if detergent door actually opened?  I would like to close the detergent flap and then open it via a diagnostic code, if possible.

Thank you

The original dispenser assembly part #  W10224429, subs to a new number: part #  WPW10199696 , which is $68 bucks ($28 dollars cheaper than  WPW10605015)

Part number: WPW10199696   I would skip the glue, it will not be durable enough for a permanent fix... glue is never strong enough to hold up on moving parts, in my experience.

Part number: WPW10199696 You can trigger the door to open during diagnostics, but not as easily as a one-button push.

Thank you for the reply.  Would you be able to point be to the diagnostic instructions?

Thank you

There should be a tech sheet with full instructions in a plastic envelope on the back of the kickplate under the unit.
