I do have a basin seal  leak but at spin shut down it slows to stop as if no friction what so ever. If I manually start spin cycle and deactivate door switch it stops normally.

Can't see how a leak would stop all friction by brake. Hate to dismantle all, replace seal and find it not the cure. Really hate to pay for tranny if not needed.

Also motor and outer basket moves back and forth a lot, normal?

Any clue's?

These hanging basket models move pretty freely, there should be 4 black rubber bands at the corners keeping it from moving too much, and slamming around in the cabinet.

If the brake works when the lid is lifted, it is doing it's job. I am doubting anyone will want to sink transmission dollars into a model this cheap... When replacing this seal (which i have only done a handful of times) the first one I did leaked after replacement, so I used some of the Plio-bond from a Cabrio bearing kit and applied it to the outer perimeter of the seal, for extra insurance, the next several times.

Thanks, do you think the leak is causing the brake to totally fail?

That is hard to say, soapy water is likely to make any kind of brake slip...

That's true but it seems like it makes no engaging at all not even a click or clunk like it does manually.

According to law, the brake has to engage when the lid is lifted- if it does, all is well. I can't remember how this model is intended to stop at the end of a cycle, truthfully, if it washes, spins and won't hurt a child if they lift the lid- I say play ball!
