GE Adora Fridge - Not Cooling / not freezing

I have GE - REfrigerator, that isnt cooling. The model number is DSS25KSRASS - about a month ago - the fridge stopped cooling, i unplugged it ran all the stuff into the garage fridge. I of course then pulled out the fridge and cleaned the dust from the motor and the back and plugged it in. Low and behold it worked, thought it was great, two weeks later it quit again. I unplugged it for the night and again plugged it back in and yes it started cooling again, only this time it only worked for about 12 hours. The fan is running but the compressor does not seem to be running.

I tested the OHM's on the compressor and have what I think are normal readings, so now I am back to testing the switch( which seems to come in three pieces on this model, or the motherboard. I have schematics but cant seem to read where / or how to test the right connections.

I don't want to order a bunch of parts and want to make sure I get it right the first time.

Can you help me, I have the schematics that ge sent me for the model number, I couldnt figure out how to include them on this post..

Remove the metal panel on the back of the machine and expose this control board... gently remove the wire connectors, then notice the tiny barbs on the white plastic "stand-offs" that board is mounted on, press the barbs toward the center of each pin to release the control board and inspect the backside of it (where all the solder joints are) for a burnt spot

Not really, as your symptom is intermittent... it takes a certain amount of luck and perfect timing to catch such a thing with your meter. If the "discoloration" is directly on the flipside of the board beneath the largest "boot shaped" black plastic relay in the picture above- it is to blame for the compressor failing to start. It will only get worse, so the best option for the average fridge owner is to replace that main control..

If the start relay has failed, it will tend to be an "all or nothing proposition."
