MAGIC CHEF #9512WUV built-in electric oven heating element wires need replacing

Hello Everyone,

The wires connected to the bottom heating element in my 19 year old Magic Chef oven need replacing.  The yellow wire is burned and the wire on the right side is deep inside of the cavity of the oven, the spade prong was stuck on the old element.  This is an under counter slide in oven, model  #9512WUV.  It is in pristine condition and was baking with ease.  I have been told that I need to replace the entire oven, but I do not believe this. What parts do I need and is it extremely difficult to replace the wires? It seems that the biggest obstacle is removing the oven from under the counter and disconnecting the electrical wires.  The oven is hard-wired. Thanks.  

Could I use the broiler (top element) safely until I replace the bottom element?

If the only thing wrong is the bake element and the burnt wire terminals, I would definitely repair it. You'll have to remove the oven from its installation. 

Cut power to the oven, disconnect the power cable from the junction box under the counter, remove the mounting screws, and pull the oven out onto something that's protecting your floor. You now can work through the back of the oven. Cut back enough wire so that what's left is shiny copper. Then crimp on some new terminals and install a new element. 

It wont bake correctly with just the top element and you risk causing damage with a live wire loose back there.

Thanks.  I also need the wires that connect to the bottom heating element.  There is no wire to cut back on one side.

Splice on some more hi temp. wire with a high temp. connection.

The search feature says non compatible with my model. Also does the color matter? What is the gauge of this wire?

Lots of the time you can find good used wire ends at mom & pop repair shops. When I strip down newer stoves I cut off about 10 inches of all the wires to use on older stoves, that is the best and easiest way in my opinion.  Color doesn't matter, just needs to be 10 gauge wire.  Absolutely do not get rid of that oven !
