  1. I bought a house recently and the oven is giving me fits. It’s a GE profile, electric, with two ovens (a big one and a little one). It doesn’t matter which oven you’re using. I’ll set the temperature, and it will just randomly turn itself off. There’s no rhyme or reason to it. Doesn’t matter what temperature it’s set to. Sometimes it’s when it’s preheating, sometimes it’s when it’s when it’s been on for a while. I’ll have it on , walk away, and come back and only see the clock display. Sometimes it does it five or six times over the course of trying to cook a meal, sometimes it doesn’t do it at all. I’ve also noticed that sometimes when I press “0” to set a temperature (like 350 degrees), the display seems to think I pressed the number “8.” Any thoughts on how I might diagnose / repair? What do you think the problem is?

  3. Hello Everyone, The wires connected to the bottom heating element in my 19 year old Magic Chef oven need replacing. The yellow wire is burned and the wire on the right side is deep inside of the cavity of the oven, the spade prong was stuck on the old element. This is an under counter slide in oven, model #9512WUV. It is in pristine condition and was baking with ease. I have been told that I need to replace the entire oven, but I do not believe this. What parts do I need and is it extremely difficult to replace the wires? It seems that the biggest obstacle is removing the oven from under the counter and disconnecting the electrical wires. The oven is hard-wired. Thanks. Could I use the broiler (top element) safely until I replace the bottom element?
  4. First time post! I've got a Kenmore Electric Range #790.92109010; I'm guessing around 8 years old. I just noticed a rather high pitched soft noise during preheat (400*), and once it reached the desired temp, the oven kept on clicking on and off (much more than normal...every 5-10 seconds). I noticed that the oven power light kept on clicking on and off as well. The stovetop seems to do something similar; working fine if it is turned on high, but quickly cutting on and off (faster than usual) during heating (medium low heat). The clock and other functions seem to work fine. I took the back off to check for any loose wiring to power cord or operating board; all looks in good condition. The only thing I have done to it recently is reattach the display when it broke off. Thoughts? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
