  6. I bought a house recently and the oven is giving me fits. It’s a GE profile, electric, with two ovens (a big one and a little one). It doesn’t matter which oven you’re using. I’ll set the temperature, and it will just randomly turn itself off. There’s no rhyme or reason to it. Doesn’t matter what temperature it’s set to. Sometimes it’s when it’s preheating, sometimes it’s when it’s when it’s been on for a while. I’ll have it on , walk away, and come back and only see the clock display. Sometimes it does it five or six times over the course of trying to cook a meal, sometimes it doesn’t do it at all. I’ve also noticed that sometimes when I press “0” to set a temperature (like 350 degrees), the display seems to think I pressed the number “8.” Any thoughts on how I might diagnose / repair? What do you think the problem is?

  15. This unit has never been connected to water. It maintains perfect temperature. When it was moved to do some kitchen remodeling, they noticed the exterior wall, behind the ice room had rusted through and a large chunk of ice had formed. I have since cut off all that rusted sheet metal and removed the ice. It runs great. I noticed ice forming on the exposed insulation after a week of removing it. I have no idea why this is happening. Could it be a design flaw? Would adding more insulation solve the problem? Do I need to add sheet metal or something to seal out the ambient air? Any suggestions are welcomed. Has anyone seen this before? If so, what was the fix? I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
  16. GE Dishwasher (GDF610PGJ2BB) water would not drain so replaced drain pump on Friday, May 29th. The first two loads it ran with no problem. Today the drain pump runs nonstop and the control panel is not counting down from estimated time. Guessing the drain pump burnt out because of this same issue. The dishes appear to fully cycle and be clean but not dry. Searches of similar issues with GE Dishwashers have led me to believe it might be the Flood Switch or Control Board, but that is a guess. Any advice on what might be causing this problem?
  17. Hello and thanks for this wonderful forum. The dishwasher makes all the right sounds as well as heats up but I do not think there is any spraying taking place. I have checked the following: Inlet fill valve-Clean, it had some black plastic pieces, I cleaned it all out. Could have been one of the washers. The filter was not dirty, but I cleaned it really well with a tooth brush. The circulation pump-took it out, checked it, looks brand new, put it back in, still no spray. Can I connect the pump to 110 volts and check if it is working? My guess now is the control board, which on this Dishwasher is a really accessible, 30 minute job to replace it, but just wanted to check with the experienced DIYs on this forum before I ordered it.

Greetings, I have a GE WSM2420TAZWW Stackable Electric Washer/Dryer that takes 2 cycles of dry time to dry clothes. I have performed the following checks, but still haven't resolved the issue. Appreciate your insights! Cleaned the vent and also had the roof outlet vent inspected. All checks out OK Replaced the thermal fuse(WE4X857) and cycling thermostat(WE4X856). Upon inspection of the old parts I think they were actually OK. Verified continuity across the heater element terminals(will check resistance next time) Confirmed continuity across the thermostat on the heater element box(I believe this is the hi-lo limit thermostat). This thermostat has 2 terminal connectors and cuts off at 200 degrees. After performing the above fixes, when I turn on the dryer, the drum turns and I can see that the heating element turns on as I can see glowing coils from inside the dryer however clothes are not drying in one cycle? Is it possible that the heating element is marginal and on its way out? I wish I took a photo however the glow is very subtle and not very bright? I'm assuming that the timer and centrifugal switch is OK since I see the heating element turning on? I have a heater element on the way as well as a hi-lo thermostat, but wanted to know if I should be checking anything else. Thanks In advance for your expert opinion.
