Hello,

I had an issue with my dishwasher where it would not turn on the heating element. Checked the element and thermostat and thought it might be control board so I called Sears to sent out a repairman. Turns out the control board just needed resetting. I don't want to pay to have someone come out and push a couple of buttons so I'm hoping someone can assist in telling me what key sequence needs to be done in order to reset the control board? It's a Whirlpool Gold Series WDF750SAYB3 with the buttons on the front of the unit if that helps.

I’m assuming the clean button is blinking and giving you an error code ? Open the door with the unit in the off position and Press any 3 keys except the start/pause or cancel buttons  pressing them in sequence.  1-2-3,1-2-3,1-2-3 with no more than a second in between key punches. The service diagnostic cycle will start. When the door is closed.let it run it’s self diagnostic test till the end.  That should reset the board for you. Unless it ends up pulling an error code up during the self diagnostic test cycle

If it keeps doing this then it needs more than resetting. Sounds like you need a tech to look at it instead of a PCM (parts changing monkey)

The point Lighthouse is making is that resetting the error code without looking for the cause of the code and calling it fixed is not very thorough...downright monkey like for a professional!

So first of all, thank you Darren for providing the info! I had seen it before but could not find it. It was coming up with an error code of 7 1 indicating the heating element btw. 

Lighthouse/Vee - I guess I should clarify that the Sears tech actually did me a solid. He called and was running behind, then called again with later time, and by the end of the day it was going to be 7pm before he could get out there. I indicated if he wanted to come, he could as I was available, but I didn't want to dig into his family time and it wasn't super urgent. He appreciated this and asked me what it was doing. I told him I had checked out the heating element and and hi-temp thermostat and that I thought it might be a control board issue. He told me to try resetting it and if that didn't work, he would come out the next day. Well, it worked and lasted for a good month or two, but it is not working anymore. We had a an issue with the power going on and off real quick like 5 times in 30 seconds and I thought it might have just hosed it up and it needed resetting again. So that is the long story of why I was asking. :)

Needless to say, after resetting it, it still has an issue. So I'll probably take it out and check the heating element again and if that checks good I'll call out a repairperson. 

From my perspective this stinks as the unit is only about 2 years old and I'll probably need to spend $200-$300 to fix it, but I couldn't find a new one that I would replace it with since they look like the same thing I have... at least all the ones with decent reviews. I don't know what brand to buy anymore lol.

Thanks again everyone, I just wanted to provide feedback because a lot of times on forums it goes into a black hole and I really appreciate the assistance!
