Samsung DV409AGW/XAA gas dryer inconsistent heat

Recommended Posts

Recently replace belt and tension pulley, seems to work fine, but then heat now inconsistent. Ordered and replaced thermostat assembly ($10 part) but old one still showed continuity. Checked continuity on everything else, all good.

Cleaned thoroughly, replaced dirty vent hose (and got rid of excessive length) and seemed to be working fine. A few loads later and now doesn't get very hot, which is weird for a gas heater, right?

What to check next?

Remove vent hose and test it again, report back results.

well ?  did you do what 16345ed suggested that  you try ?   He cant be helped unless you post back your results.  maybe you put the wrong size drum belt on and the drum is slipping slightly here and there. ??

Yeah, I had to jet out if town for work. Anyhow, I removed hose, I get warm but not hot air (set to timed/high heat).  I noticed that it sounds like the burners are ocillating. Recorded to capture.

Dryer needs taken apart and serviced. Possibly bad blower wheel.

I have taken apart the dryer a couple times. The first time I did a thorough cleaning before replacing the parts that I listed earlier, while doing so I checked the blower assembly to see if it's spun smoothly, which it did. What else would I need to check, and how?

Bumping this to see if anyone has any ideas. Thanks!

Does the airflow change or just the temperature?

Posted

The airflow doesn't oscillate as much as the sound does perhaps it does a little bit if so it's subtle. The temperature is pretty constant but not hot is just warm

Actually I just checked again and the air flow does seem to oscillate a little more than I thought but not a lot

Got an air leak somewhere?

Air infiltration that bypasses the heater will cause it to cycle on the high limit and lower the output temperature.

I don't think it does. I don't feel or hear anything coming out of any of the seams anywhere but that doesn't mean there might not be a small one. The only thing I can think of is pulling the front off and checking everything I reassembled. Is there anything else I should check specifically?

Sounds like it’s not put together properly and something is rubbing to me.
