Hello everyone,

I am troubleshooting a noise produced by my washer and would like some input from more seasoned experts in what the culprit is. I suspect the cause is either the mode shifter or drive shaft (assuming this is where the bearings are housed). The noise occurs only during agitation with the impeller in motion. During spin, the washer is quiet but the video does pick up some rythmic noise which is the result of the camera resting on the lid, same for the clicks; they're generally very quiet but magnified by the cameras position.

Washer Model#: GTWS8350H1WS

The following video provides 3 tests between 2 service modes, agitate and spin. Thank you in advance for your

I'm sorry to be responding so late. If your question hasn't been answered on another forum, it would appear that you're on the right track and that you have a problem in either the mode shifter or washer drive shaft. The grinding is because the tub is locked to counter the agitator. Look for a tech sheet in the console or in the washer body that can tell you how to diagnose each. Just remember to put the sheet back when you're done so you always know where it is. :)

Thanks for the reply, @MrApplianceMatt. I did find the technical service guide and have been reviewing it closely. I was able to access the diag modes of the washer through the console. Am I understanding right that there should be another tech sheet inside the console or washer body (maybe behind a panel or something)?

There should be, but I don't always find them where they should be. If you have the technical service guide then that would typically supersede the tech sheet,

Hi @JoJo McWashface. I have the exact same issue and have for over a year. It's getting much worse. Did you resolve the issue with the grinding? If so, can you please tell me how you did it? Thanks!!
