Just pulled a bad bake element out of a Kenmore electric oven 790.46893903. I have never seen anything as bad as this. The element cover (below the element in this model) had burn marks and a whole burned through. Do you think the element failed partially, drooped down and touched the cover while still partially energized until it failed completely?

I can't see your pics yet, but I had a weird one today.

I had an Electrolux wall oven today where the bake element looked like a bulged snake all coiled up and distorted with no discernible burn outs.

I'll upload pics after I go back to replace it.

Oh, and thanks Electrolux for not leaving a couple extra inches of wire so I could replace it from the front.

Getting a second guy and totally removing the oven to do it is so much more efficient. 😉

Nice one!  Don't often see an element that bad.  Saw a couple like that a few years ago in Maytag ranges and both had damaged the ERC.
