      This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
      As part of this workshop, we'll talk through a couple of case studies troubleshooting computer-controlled appliances.

    Everything on this 4 year old refrigerator works except suddenly the ice maker no longer makes ice. From what I've read it appears I'm joining the Samsung ice maker party! The ice making chamber is completely free of frost, the freezer registers -2F the fresh food chamber registers 36F. Water pressure is fine, delivering nearly a pint in 10 seconds at the cold water dispenser. I've tried resetting the unit by pressing in on the little blue button on the ice maker and gives a quick chime but nothing else occurs in the next 24 hours. I've tried resetting the machine by disconnecting it from 120V power for 5+ minutes and upon re-powering the freezer temperature shows -9F and 28F in the food compartment, No ice after 24 hours. I'm looking for help in troubleshooting this refrigerator before I go on a simple parts purchasing chase. For what it's worth, my beer fridge is a 1947 GE that doesn't miss a beat. Thanks for your help.

    See the attached video. The display board keeps turning on and off every 4-10 seconds. Buttons are not responsive. The light works ok. Burners and burner sparkers work ok. Upper oven works ok (with correct LEDs Upper Oven and Oven Heating lighting up properly). Lower oven does not work (it is controlled by the buttons, so no surprises). Power cycling (power off for over 30 minutes) did not fix it. Do you think this is a bad control board? Or could it be anything else (a lose/shorted wire or a capacitor that's not on the control board)? Anything I can test before ordering a new control board? 20240510_121809.mp4

    Hi all. My machine actually calls for a Whirlpool 12002353, which I can't source anywhere because it's discontinued. I have incorrectly purchased a Whirlpool 12002351 (single speed) motor which mounts perfectly, but only has 5 wires instead of 6. Conductor colors don't exactly match up. A612: Black, White, Red, Yellow, Orange, Brown. 12002351: Black, White, Red, Yellow, Orange (no Brown) Given this info, at first I thought just hook it up this way, and abandon the brown, which must be slow .. but don't think that's correct, because brown doesn't go to the speed selector switch. The speed selector switch shows connectivity to orange on slow, and black on fast. To make matters worse, the 12002351 came with a harness (22004373) that introduces new colors: white, red, yellow, black and blue. Anyone have any idea how to hook this up? 12002351 came with no instructions at all. Also, I don't even have a wiring diagram for the A612, otherwise I could at least determine which low speed wire I could abandon, and would know what the 5 remaining machine wires are for. Appreciate any help anyone can offer!

  35. Double Oven
    The wife has the above, the top oven started acting up pre covid, so she has been using the lower one. That has now started misbehaving. I have been given one chance to fix the issues, so I have purchased a new control board and a relay board. Initial problem on the top oven was it started to go on/off when warming up, then it started on/off while cooking. The lower oven just burnt a batch of cookies, stuck a thermometer in, it's reading 40 deg above set level. Changed the temp sensor for a new one, no difference. My question is this, apparently the ovens have to be re calibrated after the replacement of the boards, I have the process for the single oven, is that applicable to the double unit? PS: I do not have a license to drive this, at least that is what the wife tells me.
