One of the reasons I chose this field for a second career is that this is a lifelong learning trade. There's no coasting, there's no staying comfortable -- if you quit learning, your competition will eat your lunch. 

On the other hand, sometimes that's a small consolation when you're covered with grime and lying on someone's floor and realizing you are squarely in the red zone of this graphic.
