  1. Hi, I was drying clothes today and opened the door mid-cycle to empty the clothes. I came back about an hour later and the door was still open and I noticed that the dryer was still heating. I just unplugged it. This dryer was purchased new around 1997-98. I have repaired several things on it through the years but I am not sure where to start in diagnosing this problem. Is it the heating element itself? What would cause it to stay on? Thanks for your input. Matt

  4. I've been having defrost issues with my Whirlpool refrigerator, and I am at my wits end! What is happening is that it does not enter the defrost cycle on its own; rather, I have to manually turn the timer with a screwdriver to get it to defrost. I have replaced the following items: Defrost timer (twice), defrost thermostat and regular thermostat for refrigerated section. Once I manually initiate a defrost, the heater does come on and melt and ice in the freezer, and after about 20 minutes the timer switches back to cooling cycle, but does not automatically go back into defrost roughly 8 hours later (its rated time). This refrigerator does not seem to have any sort of defrost control board, as I looked over the parts diagram for this unit. I really don't know what else could be causing this issue. All replaced parts were OEM and correct to this Whirlpool refrigerator, and I did test them via recommendations elsewhere online. Please, if anyone has anything that could help me try and solve this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much!

  7. The heat will not stay on, will work fine for most of the first load for they day but after that the heat goes on and off when it pleases. Had a repair man out and it cycled fine for him for about 30 minutes one and off as expected with and without a load. 2, 3 minutes without load 5, 6 with load. I have disconnected the duct, replaced the high/low temp thermostat, pulled unit apart and cleaned every part free of lint. Replaced coil. All wiring looks fine nothing burnt or pinched. When the pilot heating element comes on it fires fine, I have not see the element come on and the gas not ignite so I do not thing failing pilot element. Dont want to pay another tech not to fix it and hate to buy new if it's a $50 part.

  14. My Whirlpool refrigerator (Model# WRX735SDMB00) ice maker started pouring water out of the ice maker. Last night I heard the ice drop and then the water come on to fill the ice tray but it didn't shut off for about 60 seconds, so by that time the tray was overflowing and the water came pouring out. I just turned the ice maker off for the night and this morning tried the reset that I found online of unplugging the refrigerator for 5 minutes. The first time it filled after doing that, it did it properly, but the next time, a few hours later, it overflowed again. Any ideas what this could be? My googling is coming up empty. Thanks in advance!

  16. Whirlpool Refrigerator MODEL GB8SHKXKQ00 ISSUE: The fridge and freezer don't stay cold. The fridge gets to 46°F -52°F and the freezer isn't freezing water. ACTIONS: the dials in fridge and freezer are both set to max cold. first we cleaned the coils which are under the fridge and got a lot of dirt out. But it had no effect. Then cleaning more, even took off the back shield From behind the fridge and cleaned. ISSUE: Fridge and freezer still not staying cold. While cleaning We noticed A bunch of ice behind the shield on the back of The exterior of the fridge. So we looked directly on the other side of that and took the back of the interior of the freezer apart and noticed the whole part back there was iced up bad, so bad that the ice was coming out if the back of the fridge exterior. ACTION: we let the fridge thaw out and the next day the fridge got cold again but then later that day the same symptoms returned as if we had done nothing. The fridge was not staying cold and the ice is starting to appear again from the lower Center exterior back of the fridge, where wires and a tube goes in. the defrost timer Is at the bottom right front Of the exterior of the fridge and it seems to be functioning correctly. The drain tube doesn't seem to be clogged. I haven't checked anything with a multi meter thanks

  18. I have an old Whirlpool fridge — a 1993 model called ET20LKXAN00 which Whirlpool's customer service portal doesn't even remember! — which has a malfunctioning door light switch (part WP2149705). I got a replacement but I can't remove the assembly that covers the switch. It's probably easy but I removed the three screws I could see on the bottom, yanked it back and forth, up and down, and got nowhere! I would very much appreciate any knowledge or ideas on the matter.

  21. WED6200SW1 model cabrio dryer. Stopped running, was displaying F01 error code in diagnostic mode. Checked all the connections to the main board, everything looked okay so I replaced it. Still would not work, can't remember the new code but research suggested I replace the control interface. That didn't help either. Now the dryer will power on but wil not run. In normal mode, when you press the start button the "sensing" light comes on. In dianostic mode -- door tests ok (beeps when opened and closed), moisture sensor tests ok (beep when connected by one finger). After the "88" appears, when I press the same button used to put it into diagnostic mode, I get "Pr" followed by "23". When I press the START button in diagnostic mode, I get code "C5". I can't find any documentation on these wacky codes anywhere. I was planning to step through the troubleshooting (on the tech sheet) to see if I can track it down. Any suggestions or shortcuts?
