  1. My 5-yr old Samsung French Door/Bottom Freezer model: RF217ACWP has started to slow its ice production. The ice maker was already replaced once a year ago by a Sears tech due to some broken part I can't remember which part. Recently the outdoor temps have been warm for southern New England above 93-degrees for the last week or so and humidity has been in the oppressive range (mid to upper 60s) as well. Not sure if this has any affect at all on this issue. At any rate, my wife and I are using more ice lately and it doesn't seem to be able to keep up. Is there a filter that needs to be checked or changed? I am not aware of one. I also do not use an external filter. If there is an internal filter, where is it located? If I need to replace the ice maker, does anyone know if there is an available unit that makes something other than half-moon shaped ice cubes? What about a test button? Where is it located? I've read something about not pressing it more than once every 24 hours. Again, it is still making ice. It just appears to be producing less than normal. It could be my imagination as well. We may just be using more than normal. I appreciate any thoughts on this.

  5. As the title says, my appliance is a Frigidiare Gallery french door refrigerator, model FGHB2735NE3. I came home from work (I travel) to find I couldn't get any ice out, and a small leak was coming from behind the front panel on the door. The leak was due to too much ice accumulating, resting in the chute, and melting. I first began by pulling all the ice maker components out and thawing them, as well as the coil on the back wall of the fridge. I thawed the drain port for good measure as well, though buildup was minimal. After that, I pulled the front assembly from the door to clean it as well, since I had the panel off for the leak. I put everything back together (it only goes one way, after all) and now I have this buzzing noise when I try to use the ice dispenser. Water works fine, I can rotate the auger by hand, and have even tried to run the ice maker by holding the door switch and pushing the lever on the door. There's clearly power going to the dispenser, since I'm getting a noise, from what I read. At this point, I think it may be the auger motor, but I cannot figure out what would have caused it to quit working (I didn't bridge any circuitry or anything of that nature). Please note that prior to the dismantling of the system, everything did work as needed, there was just so much buildup it would hardly push the ice out because it was basically one giant piece. I've included a link to show the water working, and so that the buzzing can be heard. Video with ice maker buzz.

  15. Hello, We purchased Samsung rfg238aars refrigerator in Oct 2012. The upper ice maker quit working. It is fusing one set of ice cube with the next. This won’t allow either set to move and drop into the ice tray. We tried the reset button without success. Please see Picture We replaced the ice maker assembly. The new ice maker did exactly the same thing. We replaced the water inlet value thinking it was letting to much water into the ice maker. We replaced the water filter. Neither works The bottom ice maker and the water dispenser both are working I notice a couple of other posting about similar issues on different models, but no solutions I am at a lost and open to suggestions. Thank you, Adam
  16. I've got an Amana ARS9269 counter-depth refrigerator that I bought in 2003. Some years ago the ice maker, water dispenser, button control & display went kaput, possibly due to a lightning strike or some other weird power disturbance. I haven't bothered to fix it because other than the ice maker and the non-responsive display, the fridge works fine. But I'm in a fix-it mode right now and am wondering if anyone knows of any shortcuts to figuring out which electronic component(s) or complete control board(s) I should replace to get it back to full functionality. Here are the symptoms: - The display lights up and displays full lines of text, possibly information from the last power outage( time, date, duration etc). But there is no response from input to any of the 5 buttons. - The water dispenser, ice maker, and night light do not work. - The fridge and freezer function just fine. Any advice? -Matt PS: I would also love to get a parts breakdown diagram with part numbers if anyone has them! Thanks!
  17. Hi all, Newbie here. I have a 2012 Whirlpool Gold Side by Side refrigerator, Model number: GSC25C4EYY01. Two days ago I needed to fill my portable beer cooler with some ice so I did as I always do and just opened my freezer, removed the removable ice bin and dumped the ice in my cooler and then put the bin back in the door. So when I come back home about 8 hours later I go to get some ice for a glass of water and nothing was made...empty bin. Never had that happen before. So I clicked on "quick ice" on the control panel on the front thinking that might speed things up. Again nothing by the next morning and none of the normal sounds that are usually associated with the ice making process (you know, the sound of the water inlet valve doing its things and naturally the harvest mode!). So I knew something was wrong so I started at the basics which I will list. 1) Checked the water dispenser side on the front door and it is flowing water. 2) Replaced my water filter with a brand new one (since it was time anyhow) and bled the system of air. Still no ice 3) Checked the temperature of the freezer. It is at exactly 0 degrees (-18c). Door is sealed well. 4) Went to check the optical part of the ice bin. This is where I am stuck on my model. There is NO INDICATOR light to do testing by (the two flashes and a pause) and I see no beam. I removed the ice bin, held down the flap on the right side and held in the door light switch and still so no beam from the two tiny holes. I am not even sure if I should see a fiber optic beam? So, this is far as I can go right now and I am unable to find any disassembly tutorials for my particular ice maker anywhere. They are always of other models. When I remove my ice bin all I see is TWO screws to undo to possibly remover the ice maker cover and get to the fiber optic boards and the ice maker itself but not sure. So, if I am correct my problem is either going to be my fiber optics board(s), the water inlet valve (I assume there are TWO junctions on this...one to ice maker and one to dispenser?), or the ice maker itself? It is just amazing how it goes from working perfect to nothing all in one day. Otherwise this fridge works great...however if I had read the reviews on it before I bought it I would have chosen a different brand (like Samsung). This model apparently has been a nightmare model for it's owners. I had to have a third one delivered before I got a working one!!!! Any help and guiding would be appreciated. never done fridge repair before but I am a quick study ;-) Thank you peace out, daddylogan
