  1. I'm shopping for a new washer and dryer. Currently have Samsung HE front load and matching dryer, 9 yrs old, going on 10. Both are making enough noises that our regular appliance repair guy suggested best option might be to replace. So what better place to ask about recommendations and reliability than a forum like this that is populated by the smart people that actually work and repair these things. Have read lots of recommended lists and other online resources. In some cases there seems to be some consensus around brands and models (LG, Electrolux). In terms of LG it is specifically the LG WM4000H washer and matching dryer. Have seen that as top recommend on Wirecutter, Consumer Reports (at least the LG brand), The Spruce, and my appliance repair guy. But I went into a local appliance repair shop and they say stay away from LG due to reliability and repair cost issues. They suggest any Whirlpool brand, or Electrolux. Other lists recommend Maytag, Samsung, and GE. What does this community say? Costco has a good price on LG now, but willing to pay a bit more (say a couple hundred) if there is something better. Thanks for any info you can provide.

  3. Hi all - current situation is my Electrolux EFLW317TIW currently will not drain and will not unlock the door to remove the laundry. The washer is full of water, so I understand why it won't unlock, but I'm hoping to find: a) a way to drain the water inside so it (hopefully) will unlock. There is no apparent lower panel to access the washer on these models OR b) unlock the door, letting the water out on the floor, and getting the clothes out It's located in the basement draining to a pipe about 4' above the drain hose on the washing machine. Yes, it's not ideal, but previous washer handled this for 10+ years and specs seemed to indicate this would be fine. Washer first produced an E23 error code (drain triac error). When running through diagnostics (hoping to drain the washer), I also received E35 (Pressure sensor indicates water overfill) and E21 (water not pumping out fast enough). Bottom line for now - I need to get into my washer to collect the clothes. It's full of water and the door is locked. Ideas?
  4. My new Electrolux Perfect Steam Dryer (EFME617STT) had the Control Lock activated and now it won't unlock. I've tried unplugging it, holding various combinations of buttons, and anything else that seems vaguely relevant and can be found online. All to no avail. Does anyone know how to do a factory reset on these machines, or what magic process will remove the control lock from my machine? Thanks!
  5. This dual fuel range was flashing an F30 error code. The tech sheet says this points to a problem with the RTD (temperature probe). A parts changing monkey reading only the error code description without looking at the schematic replaced the RTD only to have the exact same problem: F30 error code. Watch how a real technician uses both the tech sheet and the schematic to accurately diagnose the problem without guesswork. 6. Dryer Electrolux EIED200QSW00 PNC:916097553-00 S/N 2D51025249 My friend has a electric dryer that when powered off (perhaps it is actually placed in a sleep mode) will not power back on after pressing the power button. It is a few months past the 1 year warranty. Imagine that. There are no error codes displayed. I did find that if I shut off the breaker for the dryer for a few minutes, the display will power on instantly when the power is restored. The dryer will perform normally then. I have been working on appliances for family and friends and would like to offer this type of service for others in my community. I am unable to pay the $197 for “access” to the service manual (and for other areas of the appliantology website) for this dryer at this time. What quality is the service manual for this dryer located through appliantology.org? Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? We can purchase new boards (power and controller) for about half the cost of replacement of the dryer. But I do not know which board may have the problem. I did discover a small crack in the LCD display. I do not see how that could affect the performance though. The “wiring” diagram that I eventually found in the dryer is of low quality. Some wire colors are not accurate according to what was actually installed. It is NOT a service manual. Thank you in advance.

  10. My dryer runs for a short time, 3 - 4 minutes. Shortly after the gas heat comes on, the dryer stops running. Even with no heat, the dryer stops after 3-4 minutes. On reading the error codes, I have had mixed results. the last and best results are as follows: E68 is in the small window the Start LED flashes 8 times the 4 LEDs on the right, flash & beep 6 times the less dry & damp flash 2 times, then the damp flashes 2 times I am able to get into the function tests, everything seems ok. thank you!

  12. Ive got an electrolux side by side EI26SS55GW5 that is forming a nice thick layer of ice on the evaporator. The compressor is humming, both fans running, and door seals are ok. With the freezer compartment back off, I see the heater and thermostat on the evaporator tube. I intend to check the heater with a voltmeter and verify the thermostat (how best to do that ?) I see no timer.... maybe its hidden behind the other compartment or on the main board? How can I further troubleshoot the defrost cycle? thanks gurus
