  4. My new Electrolux Perfect Steam Dryer (EFME617STT) had the Control Lock activated and now it won't unlock. I've tried unplugging it, holding various combinations of buttons, and anything else that seems vaguely relevant and can be found online. All to no avail. Does anyone know how to do a factory reset on these machines, or what magic process will remove the control lock from my machine? Thanks!

For specific technical info, use the relevant Fast Track manual.

  11. Clothes get hot but drying takes much longer than it should, even on highest temperature, and when using the timed cycle rather than the moisture sensors. I compared with a newer Duet dryer for comparison and it takes a normal amount of time, so I know my expectations are not off (the GEW9200 takes about twice as long to dry as the newer one, assuming an equivalent load). Here's what I've tried, none of these have changed anything: Ran dryer without vent hose attached Cleaned lint filter with soft brush and soapy water Opened up machine front and back and removed all lint from inside to ensure proper airflow Tightened bracket holding duct leading from squirrel cage blower to drum (bad design here, only a single screw holding it in) There appears to be decent airflow coming out of the vent but I have no way of measuring. Blower blades appear to be in good condition. What have I missed?
  12. GTDP280ed2ww. I have checked thermal fuse, belt switch, door switch, timer, start switch, and checked for correct voltage. I was unable to test the timer resistor. How much resistance should it be showing? Would that cause the dryer not to start? Thanks.
  13. Can someone explain this to me? Weird cord wiring The cord white is not attached to anything. The machine white is on the center terminal and there is a jumper from the center terminal to the ground screw with the cord green. This looked odd to me, so I 'fixed' it. Removed the jumper. Both neutrals on center. Green on ground. Like all of the other dryers with 4 prong cords I've ever done. It didn't turn on. WHY? Changed it back to the original wiring with the detached cord white and jumper. WHY? What am I missing?
  14. Hi, I was drying clothes today and opened the door mid-cycle to empty the clothes. I came back about an hour later and the door was still open and I noticed that the dryer was still heating. I just unplugged it. This dryer was purchased new around 1997-98. I have repaired several things on it through the years but I am not sure where to start in diagnosing this problem. Is it the heating element itself? What would cause it to stay on? Thanks for your input. Matt

  16. Hi, I have a * dryer that just developed a small rattle. What's odd is that the rattle doesn't start right away; it kicks in 30 seconds after I start the dryer. I lifted the top and popped off the back grille so I could see it in action, and I don't see anything obviously amiss. The pulleys all seem to be turning smoothly. There's a hot metal smell (and it's heating and blowing out air), but no burning smell, so that seems normal, too. I took a short video. You can hear the bit where the sound changes from the normal operating noise to the rattle. Video with the rattle starting about 5 seconds in. Any idea what could be causing this? I've been keeping this machine going for many years, but it keeps plugging along with different bits getting replaced over time. Is it time for a new idler pulley or rollers? It's weird, though, that the sound doesn't start right away. Whether the dryer is cold or already warm, it starts 30 seconds after I turn on the drying cycle. Thanks, Erika

  18. Electrolux EIMED6CJIW3 keep burning element. Dryer is 3-4 years old. It's been burning out the elements for about 2 years. The dryer keeps burning the element every few months. When the dryer isn't working I take it apart and find that some of the heating coils are broken. The element (part number 134792700) gets so hot that the middle plate is bent out of shape so much so that several times the coil is shorted against the tube. I've replace the element 5+ times. I've also replaced the Thermistor and the Thermal Fuse once. I've tested the Thermal Fuse and verified it works using an electric frying pan set to 265F. I've checked the vent exhaust is lint free. Why does the element keep burning out?
