ice maker Samsung refrig RS265TDRS ice maker is dead
rwhith posted a topic in DIY Appliance Repair Help
My ice maker (Daechang DA97-11092B) is completely dead. The test buttom does nothing, no water fill, no motor activity. How can I trouble shoot this to tell if the problem is the ice maker or the main control board. I am ignoring the water control valve, door switch (the lights come on and go off fine), and temperature (-4) for now as unlikely. I would also like to get a full service manual, not the fast start version. Any ideas?- 3 replies

My 5-yr old Samsung French Door/Bottom Freezer model: RF217ACWP has started to slow its ice production. The ice maker was already replaced once a year ago by a Sears tech due to some broken part I can't remember which part. Recently the outdoor temps have been warm for southern New England above 93-degrees for the last week or so and humidity has been in the oppressive range (mid to upper 60s) as well. Not sure if this has any affect at all on this issue. At any rate, my wife and I are using more ice lately and it doesn't seem to be able to keep up. Is there a filter that needs to be checked or changed? I am not aware of one. I also do not use an external filter. If there is an internal filter, where is it located? If I need to replace the ice maker, does anyone know if there is an available unit that makes something other than half-moon shaped ice cubes? What about a test button? Where is it located? I've read something about not pressing it more than once every 24 hours. Again, it is still making ice. It just appears to be producing less than normal. It could be my imagination as well. We may just be using more than normal. I appreciate any thoughts on this.

Hi Friends: I have a Bosch B22CT080SNS/01 French Door Refrigerator. Ice maker is located in the bottom freezer. I cannot find for the life of me the ice maker assembly replacement. It is on back order.and has been for at least 2 months now. Bosch has not ETA. No local parts house, no online vendor, or my tech can find one. Only some in Canada but they won't ship to the US. I was told to find part number 00798555. This Bosch refrigerator was clearly made by Whirlpool. My brother owns a JennAir JFC2290REM00 and I can't find a difference in the models except of course the label. I'm willing to put in a generic ice maker if someone can suggest something that is compatible. This unit produces the crescent cubes. Any help or suggestions would be appreciate. Thank you!

My Whirlpool refrigerator (Model# WRX735SDMB00) ice maker started pouring water out of the ice maker. Last night I heard the ice drop and then the water come on to fill the ice tray but it didn't shut off for about 60 seconds, so by that time the tray was overflowing and the water came pouring out. I just turned the ice maker off for the night and this morning tried the reset that I found online of unplugging the refrigerator for 5 minutes. The first time it filled after doing that, it did it properly, but the next time, a few hours later, it overflowed again. Any ideas what this could be? My googling is coming up empty. Thanks in advance!

My ice maker started giving me trouble, ice was forming in freezer everywhere. So I removed all of ice, took out ice maker and removed ice from plugged over flow piping. Restarted everything, went to bed, at about 2:30am a loud grinding noise was coming from back of freezer. Icicles had already formed every where in freezer. So I'm thinking that ice must have formed around a fan and that must be the noise. Now there is a code flashing in the refrigerator, on the control panel "E"'F", I'm not sure what the issue could be, water from ice maker doesn't seem to be controlled any longer. Now with these error codes, it seems there are a lot of variables that can be creating this issue. Thank You

Troubleshooting A maytag bottom freezer ice maker
Gary S posted a topic in DIY Appliance Repair Help
Replaced ice maker and inlet valve and still no ice. -
I have a model 106.89553100 Ice Maker and I am having an issue with it overfilling the water tray. I recently replaced the control board and the water valve and it now is making ice again but it is overflowing into the bin and melting most of the ice. I looked at the area where the pump is located for a water sensor and this model does't seem to have one unless it is mounted some other place I can not see. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to regulate the water flow so it will cut off when full? Thanks for your help!!

Whirlpool Gold Ice Maker Not Working - Model: GSC25C4EYY01
daddylogan posted a topic in DIY Appliance Repair Help
Hi all, Newbie here. I have a 2012 Whirlpool Gold Side by Side refrigerator, Model number: GSC25C4EYY01. Two days ago I needed to fill my portable beer cooler with some ice so I did as I always do and just opened my freezer, removed the removable ice bin and dumped the ice in my cooler and then put the bin back in the door. So when I come back home about 8 hours later I go to get some ice for a glass of water and nothing was made...empty bin. Never had that happen before. So I clicked on "quick ice" on the control panel on the front thinking that might speed things up. Again nothing by the next morning and none of the normal sounds that are usually associated with the ice making process (you know, the sound of the water inlet valve doing its things and naturally the harvest mode!). So I knew something was wrong so I started at the basics which I will list. 1) Checked the water dispenser side on the front door and it is flowing water. 2) Replaced my water filter with a brand new one (since it was time anyhow) and bled the system of air. Still no ice 3) Checked the temperature of the freezer. It is at exactly 0 degrees (-18c). Door is sealed well. 4) Went to check the optical part of the ice bin. This is where I am stuck on my model. There is NO INDICATOR light to do testing by (the two flashes and a pause) and I see no beam. I removed the ice bin, held down the flap on the right side and held in the door light switch and still so no beam from the two tiny holes. I am not even sure if I should see a fiber optic beam? So, this is far as I can go right now and I am unable to find any disassembly tutorials for my particular ice maker anywhere. They are always of other models. When I remove my ice bin all I see is TWO screws to undo to possibly remover the ice maker cover and get to the fiber optic boards and the ice maker itself but not sure. So, if I am correct my problem is either going to be my fiber optics board(s), the water inlet valve (I assume there are TWO junctions on this...one to ice maker and one to dispenser?), or the ice maker itself? It is just amazing how it goes from working perfect to nothing all in one day. Otherwise this fridge works great...however if I had read the reviews on it before I bought it I would have chosen a different brand (like Samsung). This model apparently has been a nightmare model for it's owners. I had to have a third one delivered before I got a working one!!!! Any help and guiding would be appreciated. never done fridge repair before but I am a quick study ;-) Thank you peace out, daddylogan- 11 replies

KitchenAid WRF989SDAM00 ice maker troubleshooting
sonoman posted a topic in DIY Appliance Repair Help
KitchenAid WRF989SDAM00 ice maker stopped working. It appears it stopped working slowly...not suddenly. The cold water works fine and the water supply line is not kinked it is the slim ice-maker that fits inside the ceiling of the refrigerator and has a small door (about 1.5" by 6"), not the big one that sits below the ceiling with the big ice door. How do I diagnose the problem? It feels like there is ice in the tray, but it is not sending ice cubes to the bin. I suspect either the IR sensor or the ice-maker, but I don't want to randomly change parts out until I know what the problem is. The IR sensor is the style without the red LED. How do I test if it is working? Also, there appears to be some ice in the back of the refrigerator where the rear of the ice-maker assembly attaches to the refrigerator ceiling. I have not taken the whole thing apart yet because I don't want to lose the cold filtered water while I wait for parts and time to fix this. I was thinking the supply line could be frozen, but not sure. . I suspect it is not a supply issue because if there are ice cubes in the tray, they would have been ejected and the tray would be empty. Again, looking for diagnostic clues for fixing it thanks-
